Chapter 6 – The Right Thing, Even When It’s Hard

Knight Ezri faced an impossible choice. Her enemies, the soldiers of the Blue Army, were blindly walking into danger—just as she nearly had. It would have been easy to walk away. After all, they were her captors, her enemies, the very people she had fought to escape. But Ezri didn’t walk away. She stepped into danger again, not because it was convenient, but because it was right.

Ezri chose to live by a code greater than personal gain or fear. She chose to value life—even the lives of those who opposed her. Her actions remind us of what Jesus taught in Matthew 5:44, where He calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. That’s not just difficult; it often feels impossible. But real strength isn’t shown when we do what’s easy. It’s revealed when we act with honor, mercy, and compassion—even when the world says not to.

We all face moments when we’re tempted to ignore what’s right because it’s inconvenient or because the person doesn’t “deserve” kindness. But like Ezri, we must remember who we are and Whose we are. We are called to do what is right, regardless of who is watching—or who benefits.

Key Verse

“But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44 (WEB)

Prayer

Dear God,
Thank You for showing us what real love looks like. Help me to do what is right, even when it’s hard, and even when it means helping someone who hasn’t been kind to me. Give me the courage to love my enemies, just like Jesus said and did Himself. Fill me with compassion, wisdom, and strength to stand up for what’s good. Let me be a light, even in dark places.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
