“It’s hard to know where we’re going if we don’t first look back and understand where we’ve been…”
16 Questions to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Your Summer Ministries

How do you know if your ministries were effective this summer? A church can be busy and “productive” but also unfruitful, and although numbers can’t tell you everything, a quick reflection can reveal strengths, weaknesses, and help you plan for the future.
This Summer:
• In what ways did your church grow spiritually?
• Can you share specific stories of life impact?
• How many people came to Christ?
• Of these people, how many were not regular attenders at your church or the children of church members?
• How many people did you baptize? How good was your follow-up?
• Did you effectively connect with new people moving into your community?
• Did you encounter new people because of your camps/VBS? Why or why not?
• How many of these people continued being connected to your church after the event?
• Did you plan your events to intentionally flow into other church activities or were they stand-alone events?
• On what did you spend your budget? Did you see results consistent with the priority and finances you put toward these?
• Did your church experience a summer slump in giving?
• In what ways did your church move forward during the summer?
• How did you prepare your church family for your vision for the fall?
• In what ways do you see your church reaching and engaging people outside your church this fall?
• On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your effectiveness in reaching and teaching people with the Gospel this past summer?
• What would you like to change next summer?
